How to find us . . . Turn off the M5 at Junction 27 towards South Molton & Barnstaple. After a short distance of dual carriage way, take the second exit at the roundabout which brings you onto the North Devon Link Road. After approximately 15 miles take a right hand turn towards Knowstone. Upon entering the village turn left at the first junction, then take the first left turn down the hill and you will find us on the right hand side.
The Two Moors Way Walk The idea of a long-distance route across Devon dates back to the 1960s. Originally there was much opposition from landowners and a path using existing rights of way was created instead of a totally new route. The 103 mile walk links the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Starting at Ivybridge on the southern edge of Dartmoor and finishing at Lynmouth on Exmoor's North Devon coast it also crosses some beautiful mid-Devon countryside. The Two Moors Way is a walk of stunning contrasts. The southern part of the trail over the wild heather uplands of Dartmoor passes jagged granite tors, crosses and clapper bridges erected by monks in medieval times and a fantastic number of prehistoric remains, including cairns, kists, menhirs, barrows, stone rows and circles and a remarkable Bronze Age village. Between the moors lies the farmland of mid-Devon with its sleepy villages of cob and thatch cottages and square towered churches. To the north the path enters the Exmoor National Park at Anstey Common and winds through beautiful river scenery and lonely moorland before making a spectacular descent into Lynmouth via Myrtleberry Hangings through a landscape of steep-sided river valleys, rounded grassy hills and ancient oak woodlands. In the past quarter of a century the Two Moors Way has attracted thousands of walkers from all over the world. Here at Rosemary Cottage we are part of the 'packhorse' service which transports walker's packs between their nightly stops.
